Italian Table Cheese with Pear Preserves
Italian table cheeses are a fruit-lover's gift. Piave is available young- and medium-aged, and both, combined with pears, create complex fruity flavors you'll remember for days.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 6 to 8
- ½ pound Piave or hard Italian table cheese
- ¼ cup pear preserves
Place Piave wedge on a plate next to a bowl of pear preserves. Give each guest a small spoon for the pear preserves, and a paring knife for the cheese.
What Are Some Other Fruity Italian Table Cheeses?
Grana Padano, often mistaken for Parmigiano-Reggiano, is a wonderfully fruity table cheese. Grana Padano is made in the Poe River Valley, and Piave in the Veneto region. Look for other hard cheeses from these areas, like Montasio cheese, to find similar hints of fruit.
