From the days of the Twelve Apostles, the Church continued to grow and develop, despite the many obstacles it encountered along the way. Early Christians faced persecution from non-Christians, but a greater challenge was disagreement over Christian belief among believers themselves. Despite the obstacles, the early Christians persevered, inspired by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.
