In the United States, the vast majority of Catholics are born into Catholic families and raised in the Church. For them, the six sacraments of Baptism, Penance (or reconciliation), Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, and the Anointing of the Sick are important milestones in their lives and faith communities. Public liturgies and milestone rituals affect individuals and those who are around them. They can be opportunities for reflection, meaningful change, and celebration.
