The seven sacraments, special signs provided by the church for the day-to-day living of the faith, begin with initiation but are celebrated throughout one's life, marking special rites of passage. Two sacraments of commitment, marriage and holy orders, celebrate an individual's choice for union with a spouse or a specialized vocation of service to God and the church. The two sacraments of healing, penance and the sacrament of the sick, assist Catholics to find spiritual and physical fullness throughout their lives.
