Variations

To keep players coming back, bingo halls continually introduce new variations to their regular games. Many of them offer early-bird specials or mini-games, which are played before a regular session starts. Sometimes a bingo winner also will get a chance to spin a money wheel, enter a “cash cage” to grab money as it is being blown by powerful air currents, or play a version of Let's Make a Deal, where the player has to decide whether to keep the bingo winnings or risk it for a potentially larger prize.

Most bingo halls also offer monthly specials with bigger jackpots or slashed admission prices. For example, many halls offer “birthday bingo” once a month, where anyone whose birthday falls in that month gets a free admission pack for the regular session. Other variations include mystery bingo, where the prize is determined by the last number called. In a regular game, for example, if the last number called is N-42, the prize would be 42 times, say, $25, or $1,050.

Virtually every bingo hall offers a free newsletter to alert players of upcoming specials and promotions. Signing up for such a newsletter is usually free; ask at the admission desk to get your name added to the mailing list.
