It's not enough for your character to say that he's happy — he has to be happy. And sometimes he has to be sad. As if that weren't enough, he will also have to be shy and confused and stunned and afraid. Getting the proportions and the shapes correct is only half of the battle. The other half is using your drawing to convey emotion. In the preceding chapter, you studied how individual features helped form an overall character. Now, consider the part individual facial features play in building an emotion.
