All cartoonists work in a two-dimensional medium (paper) and have to fool the reader's eye into seeing a three-dimensional scene. This requires several tricks that fall under the heading of perspective. Using perspective, cartoonists can draw believable scenes. Without perspective, flat people and flat objects float around a room unanchored. Learning a few simple rules can help you master this technique.
