Drawing has a mystique about it. Whether it's attributed to divine intervention (“God-given talent”) or genetics (“natural ability”), it's seen as something that a person is born with. The truth of the matter is that drawing relies on hand-eye coordination. It's a skill, not a talent. True, some people are born with better hand-eye coordination and do tend to be better artists. But drawing is a skill that anyone can master, as long as he or she is willing to practice.
