Where Your Work Space Is

Location and how it relates to your career is dealt with in more depth in Chapter 7. Here you'll want to think about the importance of such things as whether there are parks or walking paths nearby, the workplace is in a safe neighborhood, there is adequate public transportation between your home and work, or there are nearby places to eat and shop. Some of these factors relate to your values (Chapter 2), such as access to fitness facilities, or to your work/life balance (Chapter 8), such as the amount of time your job requires you to work overtime. Of course, there are many other factors that are more important when considering your career. But just as a blister on your heel can ruin a nice walk in the loveliest of nature preserves, your dissatisfaction with seemingly minor details in your otherwise suitable work environment can accumulate to dampen your enthusiasm and eventually affect your attitude.
