You Say Potato
Peruvians cultivated potatoes more than 4,000 years ago. Potatoes didn’t make it to Europe until the mid-sixteenth century, and when they did they were greeted with skepticism. Marie Antoinette changed all that by wearing a crown of potato blossoms in the late eighteenth century, making the potato fashionable. Today, the average American household eats more than 140 pounds of potatoes each year.
