Yellow Cake from DIY Mix
Yellow cake is a staple of many of the recipes in this book. This basic cake will taste similar to yellow cakes made from mixes but will not include dyes, preservatives, and other ingredients that can spark allergic reactions.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8–12
- 4 cups Basic DIY Cake Mix
- 1 cup skim milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 eggs
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour cake pans. Set aside.
Pour cake mix into a large bowl. Make a well in the center.
Add skim milk, vanilla, and butter. Beat for 3 minutes or until a smooth batter forms.
Add eggs and thoroughly combine. Pour into pans.
Bake for 35 minutes or until the center of the cake springs back when lightly touched.
