Orange Campfire Cakes

The rounded shape you can achieve here is amazing. The oranges lend a delicate flavor to the cake.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 12

  • 1 (18.25-ounce) box white cake mix plus ingredients called for on box
  • 12 oranges
  • 2 16-ounce tubs sour cream frosting
  1. Prepare cake batter according to instructions. Cut the tops off the oranges and hollow out the insides.

  2. Fill each orange ¾ full with cake batter and surround the orange completely with tin foil.

  3. Place foil-wrapped oranges in the hot part of the fire and wait for about 20 minutes, turning once.

  4. Remove from fire and allow to cool. Frost if desired.
