Magic Potion Cookies
Let the kids figure out what to add in. Let them try combinations and measure them out themselves. Nothing's more fun than a “magic potion” cooked up by mad scientists. Who knows? You might invent a favorite cookie.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 24
- 1 18.25-ounce box yellow cake mix
- 3 eggs
- ⅓ cup oil
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 3 cups add-ins: candies, chocolate morsels, coconut, nuts, trail mix, or other favorites
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix cake mix, eggs, oil, vanilla, and oatmeal together in a large mixing bowl. Let children choose, measure, and add their own combination of add-ins.
Drop cookies by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 9 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
Imaginative Baking
Kids love to mix foods. While they might scream when the macaroni touches the green beans, they'll sometimes jump at the chance to brew concoctions. Let them get imaginative with the add-ins. They'll love the sense of involvement and the cookies they produce!
