Campfire Cobbler
This easy recipe requires only two ingredients plus a Dutch oven and a campfire. It's a memory maker, that's for sure.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8
- 1 15-ounce can cherry or peach pie filling
- 1 18.25-ounce box white cake mix
Pour pie filling into the bottom of a Dutch oven. Pour dry cake mix over pie filling.
Cover Dutch oven and place in the coals of a fire.
Place some hot coals on the lid of the Dutch oven. Cook for 15 minutes.

Bakers of yore did not bake with cake mix or canned pie filling, but they did bake in the embers of a fire. Talk to your kids about what it would be like to cook this way every day. Ask them to imagine how life might be different. Let your imagination wander — that's what campfires are for.
