Making Motivational Signs
To stay motivated to stick to your budget, make inspirational signs for yourself and put them in places around your home where you're likely to see them, and in your wallet!
Here are some examples:
I'm going back to school next year.
I will retire at age 55.
I am buying a house next spring.
I will be out of debt by the last day of June.
I'm buying my granddaughter a bike for her birthday.
Your signs can say anything you want, as long as they're meaningful to you and address your most important financial goals.
Place large ones on your refrigerator and on your bedroom nightstand; tape smaller ones to your coffeemaker and bathroom mirror. Place one in your wallet, wrapped around your credit card, debit card, or cash.
If you tend to shop from catalogs, place one on your phone. If Internet shopping is your downfall, place one of your signs on your computer.
These signs should help you stick to your budget and reach your long-term financial goals.
Having too many of these signs won't motivate you — they'll just make you laugh! If you find yourself needing signs everywhere to keep you motivated, try making a sign that says, “I will stop making these signs!” That should be fun for a few days.
