Brown-Bagging Lunch
If you go out to lunch every day — or even a few days a week — you can save quite a bit of money every month by bringing your lunch from home instead.
It doesn't have to be fancy; in fact, if you make just a bit more than you need for dinner every night, you can pack the leftovers for lunch the next day. Or pack a sandwich, yogurt, and fruit — simple and cheap!
To find out how much you really spend on lunch, review your daily expenses. Then make a sample menu for your lunches and write the ingredients in WORKSHEET 6-2, comparing that total to your eating-out total.
If eating out at lunch is a big part of your social life, don't stop it completely. Instead, limit it to one day per week or a couple of days a month.
