There's a saying in bridge that in some cases, you must settle for the best result possible rather than the best possible result. That means that sometimes, thanks to those meddlesome opponents, you won't be able to get to the ideal contract. You'll have to settle for the best contract you can manage under the circumstances. At any rate, while good bidding is the essence of successful bridge, it profits you little if your skill at taking tricks is less than it should be.
