Discussing the Weather
How do you say “It's raining” in Portuguese? What about “It snows a lot here”? In this section you will learn how to discuss the weather in Portuguese.
Here is a list of common expressions that relate to the climate:

Sometimes it is common to state how the weather is at the moment of speech. In this case you should use the verb

Even though you will not encounter a lot of bad weather in Brazil, remember that it is a tropical country, and it will probably rain unexpectedly. Also, be sure to understand the temperature readings, which are not in Fahrenheit, but rather in Celsius (i.e., freezing point is 0°C same as 32°F). Hot weather is probably 40°C, or about 99°F. Fair weather is about 25°C or 75°F. Brazilians will feel cold at 15°C or about 60°F!
