Vera Dangerous was one of the worst female criminals of all time. When she was arrested in California in 1954, she was accused and convicted of 17 murders. For the last 30 years, incorrigible murderers had been sent to Alcatraz Island, but Vera was not sent there. Why not? (Alcatraz didn't close until 1963.)
