Boxers are prone to various inherited conditions and diseases, in which a genetic abnormality plays a major role in causing a disease or condition. Some disorders can occur as a result of spontaneous mutations of cells, but most genetic conditions or diseases are inherited. Although there are several serious health problems common among boxers, breeders can avoid many of them by performing screening tests on their breeding stock. Some lines are healthier than others, and have greater longevity.
