Full of Grace

Earlier in this chapter, you read about playing up your most feminine features (eyes, mouth, shoulders, arms—whatever you’ve got, use it!) to land that guy you’re after. This includes learning to be graceful in areas where you may not be—like walking. Pigeon-toed adults tend to look childish, sloppy, and weak. People who walk with their toes pointing way out to the side look uptight. You want those toes to be straight ahead when you walk (if they point outward a little bit, that’s fine), and don’t scuff your shoes along the ground. Again, that makes you look childish and sloppy.

Now, what about those women who walk around looking like they’re playing pinball with their hips? Do men like this move, or do they see it as a flirtatious ploy? Well, most men seem to take notice of swaying hips because it’s an instinctual reaction. You see, because men are biologically programmed to find a fertile woman, they’re also programmed to check out the woman’s pelvis (which is where she’ll be carrying his children) to make sure it’s up to snuff, so to speak. Women, meanwhile, are biologically programmed to show off their pelvic region. Learning to shake it can’t hurt your chances, but don’t go crazy with it—a little shimmy goes a long way.

That’s good advice in general for when you begin using your body language tricks to land yourself a treat: take it easy at first. Using overly coy (or just too much) body language doesn’t guarantee that you’ll land yourself a quality guy. Think of this as training. You’re in the minor league of flirting right now, working on the moves that suit you best. When you’re ready, you’ll get that call and move right up into the big league.
