September 19

Today's Virgo has that certain “something” — it's alluring, curious, mysterious, and yet wholly indefinable. People seem to take to you like peanut butter to jelly, yet you're not wholly self-assured. You see all this admiration and can't figure out what all the fuss is about. That's part of your lesson in this life: seeing your own potential as clearly as do others. With that enthralling aura, there's much you could do — be it entertaining the masses or inspiring them to greater things.

Today's birth number is 1, meaning that ideals and morals guide your actions and reactions. You want to do something substantive that will remain in the memories of fellow workers, family, or associates for a very long time. Today's personology report implies that you have the smarts to manage that, but not necessarily the patience or confidence. If you can develop those two attributes, watch out! The future is bright, indeed.

The lack of security manifests at the beginning stages of relationships too. You often look to others for assurance (be it in the bedroom or boardroom, you want a support structure). Know, however, that once this Virgo feels truly loved, that neediness begins to disappear and a very hot lover emerges.

Gift idea: an antique mirror.

Late September brings cooler air and turning leaves to our attention. Among earlier civilizations, this was when the fall equinox was celebrated, being the date on which day and night are equal in length. This was often the final harvest for the year, during which people would make offerings to the land and the divine in hopes that winter would be mild, and the following growing season abundant. Other rituals included symbolic practices meant to keep the sun strong, such as in Egypt, where an observance called Staffs of the Sun was enacted to support the solar disk in its travels. Because of the increasing darkness, some cultures began various festivals for the dead on or around this date, as in Japan, where ancestors are honored on this day.
