September gets its name from the Latin designation for the number seven, septem. In Japan it's considered the month of the long moon, because of the moon's visibility in the night sky. The Swiss consider it a harvest month, and among Jewish people it's a month filled with holidays, including Rosh Hashanah, the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and the Feast of Tabernacles. Until September 22nd, the month is ruled by Virgo, the virgin or maiden. The end of the month belongs to the ever-adaptable Libra.
