October 1
Today's Libra has the attention-seeking motivations worthy of a Leo. Thankfully you've got loads of aptitude and charisma, so much of the notice you get comes without any real effort on your part. Additionally, a birth number of 2 means you've got this very natural way with people, one that seems almost unassuming. You probably find yourself entertaining frequently, often with guests arriving unexpectedly. And since your home is always tidy and stocked, you can make an easy go of a fun evening!
Careerwise, there's plenty of work ethic and ambition here. The only problem is determining whether those efforts should be cooperative (as the birth number 2 would wish) or independent (as is a Libra trait). Perhaps there's a way to put these together by becoming a media representative or spokesperson, both positions where there's other talent to draw upon, but where you have a solitary space.
Friendships and love are two areas where today's Libra struggles a bit. There's the green-eyed monster afoot just underneath the surface of that amazingly engaging smile. If you don't get adequate attention, you begin to wonder if someone else is in the picture. Additionally, in true Libra form, you're emotionally needy in other ways. The best bet is a very giving and sensitive partner who puts all those misgivings to rest.
Gift idea: sunglasses.
The birthstone for October is the opal. The concept that opals are bad luck is a relatively modern one. Romans regularly carried them to improve good fortune and as a protective or love-inspiring talisman. Many other peoples believed in the stone's magical qualities including the Greeks, who saw it as a prophetic gem, and Far Easterners, who believed beliefs that it was a “hope” stone. An Aboriginal myth says the opal was born from a rainbow that fell out of the sky; when it shattered the opal pieces remained. The word “opal” originates from various multiple roots. Opallios is Greek for “changing color,” and upala is Sanskrit for “precious gem.”
