March gets its name from the Latin word Martius. Originally it was the first month of the year, but when the calendar changed it became the third month. It's named after the Roman God of war, Mars. In Anglo Saxon tradition it was called Hlyd (stormy) or Hraed (rough). Astrologically the first part of this month comes under the unconventional rule of Pisces. Come March 21st, the fire of Aries moves in. This naturally heats things up and brings an air of authority and renewed energy.
