August 9
Today's Leo is all wildcat. There's no taming or restraining you. As a child, it seemed as if you were solar powered, up with the sun and still completely charged late at night. The youthful exuberance lead to more than just bruised knees — likely several broken bones and bloody noses. As an adult that energy continues, expressed in a very outgoing, social, and curious nature. Life is like a flourishing banquet of which our Cat doesn't want to miss one little bite.
Having a birth number of 8 steadies today's outlook a bit. Whereas you might otherwise be reckless and dangerously excessive, the motivation to achieve stability tones that down. That doesn't mean you don't enjoy being the class clown. In true Leo style, you love lots of attention, but will try to limit that showmanship to times and spaces that don't affect your security. This may lead to feeling as if you're struggling with yourself — the part that yearns for freedom, and the other, more responsible and respectable half. Take heart; eventually you'll find a peaceful middle ground. Additionally, the Sagittarius decanate has already mastered the balance between inspiration and common sense, which keeps things optimistic.
Relationships run hot and heavy for our Leo. You love a good, long chase and teasing banter. Play hard to get and this pussycat's passion goes from a slow purr to a full-out rumble!
Gift idea: a basket of gourmet goodies.
Peridot is a form of olivine, a lovely green stone that's the birth gem for August. It's been a part of human history as far back as ancient Egypt. Some ancients, like the Romans, called it the evening emerald because of its rich color similarities. At first, it's likely most peridot came from near the Red Sea where it formed from volcanic activity. Aptly, Hawaiians liken the stone to the Volcano goddess Pele's tears. Superstition claims that anyone who wears one of these stones will receive the power to persuade people.
