Astrology is regarded as a branch of natural omen interpretation with origins as far back as 2000 B.C.E. Records from around 1700 B.C.E. indicate that the Babylonians believed the gods moved celestial objects to reveal forthcoming events. Around 1620 B.C.E. tablets with over 7000 astrological omens had been assembled into a collection entitled Anu Enlil (roughly translated: sky omen collection).
