Personalizing the Scriptures
The message of the Bible is one of God';s love and compassion for a needy, sinful, undeserving world. But have you ever stopped to think that it';s also a message God sent just for you?
There is something about taking the Scriptures and personalizing them that makes them come alive, that further opens lines of communication with God and that empowers us to live the way God wants us as believers to live. When we personalize Scriptures, we go from saying “That';s a great message” to “That';s a great message just for me.”
As you study the Bible, take the time to personalize what it says. Take the message of “God so loved the world … ” (John 3:16) and make it “God so loved me.” Think of “ … God … will supply all your needs from his glorious riches” (Philippians 4:18) as “God … will supply all my needs from his glorious riches.”1
When you approach Bible reading and study that way, you will begin to feel more and more connected, not just with the messages in the Bible but also with God Himself.
