Central to the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is love. Jesus explained his presence on earth beginning with, “God so loved the world” and later left his disciples with the command that they “love one another.” The message of the Bible is that God loved us so we are to love Him in return. Not only that, we are to love one another just as He has loved us — in a sacrificial, selfless way. That is the message of this chapter, which is a study of 1 John.
