Most of the figures in this book are brief. Many include a phrase or two. Others feature an ostinato pattern or a lick. However, this chapter comprises in-depth study pieces. In other words, the four etudes here expand upon many of the techniques and concepts you've learned in previous chapters. Given the longer format of each piece, you will want to spend extra time practicing these etudes. You should also learn these pieces in the order in which they appear since they get progressively harder.
