Grilled Pears with Claret Sauce
- 2 cups claret
- 4 whole cloves, bruised
- ½ cup sugar (optional)
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 8 unpeeled pears, halved and cored
Bring the claret, cloves, and sugar to a boil and reduce to half. Add the cream and keep warm.
Set grill to high heat.
Grill the pears over a hot fire for 1 minute, cut-side down. Turn and grill for 30 seconds. Remove pears to serving plates, spoon sauce over all, and serve immediately.
