Setting Up Away from Home
The nation abounds with old theaters, many available for parties. If your shower will include a performance element, consider renting a theater to stage the party. Serve concession-style food or theme the food to compliment the title of the shower; for example, if you choose Flower Drum Song, serve Chinese food or set up dim sum stations.
Of course, it is not a necessity to have guests performing at the shower; after all it’s a baby shower—the stars are mother- and baby-to-be. Besides, theater buffs will enjoy any type of theater experience, so consider planning the shower around a local production of a favorite show. Keep in mind travel time, cost per ticket, and length of shower (pregnant women cannot sit for long periods without a stretch and a ladies room).
