Setting Up at Home

An at-home setting is a great backdrop for this type of shower. It allows for easy conversations, comfortable entertaining, and minimal preparation. As with all at-home parties, there are a few things to consider before you commit to opening your living room to guests.

Your home will work for the Grandparents’ Shower if:

  • You have enough space to seat all guests. If you don’t have enough chairs, consider borrowing or renting them.

  • You have a way to cook or heat food for a crowd. A standard oven, a microwave, or a barbeque grill can all be pressed into service, depending on your menu.

  • You have an area to serve food. Buffet-style service can be set up on the dining room table, a kitchen counter, or an outdoor patio table.
