Proper nutrition plays a central role in the captive maintenance of all aquatic animals and affects every aspect of their lives. Although much improved in recent years, our understanding of the food requirements of most species of even commonly kept fish and invertebrates is still in its infancy. The hobbyist is, therefore, presented with a wonderful opportunity to learn and to add to what is known about this very important topic.
