French Apple Pie
Cake mix is used to make the pie crust and the crumbly cinnamon streusel topping in this easy pie recipe.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8
- 1 (18.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 (21-ounce) can apple pie filling
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9″ pie plate with nonstick cooking spray containing flour and set aside.
In large bowl, combine cake mix, butter, and egg; mix with mixer until crumbly. Remove 2 cups of the crumbs to a medium bowl and set aside. Press remaining crumbs into bottom and up sides of pie place.
Spoon pie filling into crust. Add brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon to reserved crumb mixture and crumble over pie filling.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is browned and top is browned and set. Cool completely before serving.
