Spicy Fish Sticks with Buffalo Sauce

Don't use Tabasco sauce in this recipe; look for hot pepper sauce in the condiments aisle of the supermarket. It's a specialty sauce used for making Buffalo Chicken Wings.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 6

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 habanero pepper, minced
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup hot pepper sauce
  • ⅓ cup sour cream
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 (18-ounce) package frozen fish sticks
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  1. For Buffalo sauce, in medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and habanero pepper; cook and stir 5 minutes.

  2. Remove from heat; add cream cheese, hot pepper sauce, and sour cream and stir until blended.

  3. Add celery and blue cheese; transfer to serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate.

  4. When ready to eat, place fish sticks on cookie sheet. Combine chili powder and cheese; toss well and sprinkle on fish sticks.

  5. Bake according to package directions until crisp and brown; serve with the Buffalo sauce.
