Marriages in which one or both partners have adult ADHD are twice as likely to end in divorce as other marriages, according to research published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry. The primary symptoms of adult ADHD can make it difficult for an ADHD spouse to get and keep a job, focus on household tasks like bookkeeping and budgeting, and contribute in a meaningful way to raising and disciplining children. Because ADHD adults crave novelty and excitement, they may have problems remaining faithful to their partner and developing sexual intimacy.
