For Accounting Software
You may already be familiar with Intuit, maker of Quicken and TurboTax. On the small-business front, its accounting package, QuickBooks, is one of the easiest to navigate. If you've already been using Quicken, you can import your files directly into QuickBooks for more robust business accounting options. The program comes equipped with all the standard accounting reports, and you can design special reports on the fly.
Though not quite as well-known as QuickBooks, Peachtree Complete Accounting is a favorite among professional bookkeepers. The software is particularly good for small manufacturing companies, as the “build a product” module is very user-friendly, so you can track finished goods, work in process, and raw materials inventory with a click of your mouse. The company also offers a robust payroll module, if you want to handle payroll in-house.
AccountEdge offers accounting software geared toward small businesses, along with several other small business services (such as direct credit-card processing with your software package). The program includes all the standard features, including bank recs and a variety of report options.
